Counseling from a wise cat

Our topic of the day:  How to choose the right pet (human).

Kittens always want pets (humans)!  That's a fact.  But it's just not that easy to choose the right one.  Soon, either as a cat that wants one yourself, or a cat with kittens that wants one, you are suddenly bombarded with all these questions: Will the pet hurt the kittens?  Does he/she shed much--I see hair everywhere!  What about perfume/cologne? I don't want him/her spraying that stuff all over the house!  What about shots and sickness?  That can be a lot of hassel and may get you sent to an unliked relative or, even a shelter.  Not to mention checking if he's/she's territorial, a biter, mean, declawed, and messy--isn't it funny how pets always destroy everything that they get their hands on?  Oh, and then there's the biggest question:  Will he/she let you outside?  It's just a whirlwind of worries once You decide to get one, but sometimes, if you choose the right one, this can pay off.  So imagine yourself, paws tucked under your furry chest, with a Fancy Feast right in front of you.  On the cold concrete--not even in that disgusting bowl that they refuse to clean.  On the conrete.  Wind blowing, no collar on, and they aren't spying on how much you like it from behind the vehicle.  It's just you.  Of course this isn't always realistic, they usually are spying on you for the first few minutes, so you have to pretend you really, really, like it (even though there isn't much pretending for me), and, the wind is not usually blowing.  However, having pets is a good choice to make.  Before I got mine I was starving, people wanted to drop me off at a shelter!  Of course, I couldn't worry about all those precautions no matter how hard I tried, because I was HUNGRY.  I had really been thinking about getting a pet for quite a while, I just didn't know how to tell which one was the right one, as I mentioned earlier, I was caught in a "whirlwind of worries".  But I had to take the chance, throwing most all worries aside, I did it.  And they were the right ones!  Yes, sometimes I get smothered, but that rarely happens, usually I just get that back scratch that feels so great.  So as you can see, life just begins once you get a pet.  I will advise scoping your human out at first, seeing if he/she has the qualities that you want.  But once you've done that for say, a month, and he/she looks good enough, try it out.  Forget about your worries (that is unless you hear barking as your coming up to meow at the door, that is a quick indication that the house you picked is not right for you).  However if you don't, then go for it!  You may be pleasantly rewarded.

Wise words:  Just like when the electric can opener was invented, it saved pets (humans) a lot of time.  As for us cats, when pets (humans) were invented, it saved us a lot of time.  Sometimes, it's best if we treat them like we would a can opener: don't throw out the box and packaging, because anyday you might have to return it to Walmart.

A hospital bed.  Wha…?  Why? Again?  Nugget’s bleary yellow eyes struggled to adjust to the brightness of the cold, concrete room he was being kept in.  A long row of hospital beds lined the endless, grimy wall, but his eyes were too unfocused to see them.  Instead, it was the smell of weak alcohol cleaner that told him exactly where he was. Nugget tried to push himself up onto his legs, but a sharp, stabbing feeling rent his stomach.

Button’s paws pressed against the iron door, supporting her as she stood up on her two hind legs and tried to peer down the long, narrow row of identical white cells.  The only thing different about each individual cell were the foul creatures that inhabited them, and really, Button thought, even they didn’t seem to vary much in size or demeanor.

As if the threat of a comet bound for the Solera Station didn’t seem looming enough, with the entire ship induced into a nervous, whispered panic, Subcommander Ocee could only keep from biting her claws and resisting the impulse to shrink away into a tight cranny—a box, a nook in the insulation, a raccoon trap—anything would do, really, to get away from this news:  Lieutenant Lucky had just confirmed that the comet everybody was worried about was only seventeen minutes from impact.
