Last time, on Star-Cats: Ensign Lucky tripped over a stone because of Ensign Ricky's and Ensign Spot's ignorance, smashing the only communicator to their starship, Catnip. Stranding them on Planet-1-Gr3-(1840)-D for four weeks...

Now...

Ensign Ricky hovered over the small fire.

"Hey! Your taking in all the warmth!"yelled Ensign Mew-Mew, he was sitting on a log by the fire. It had already been a rough 6 days on this planet, and they hadn't found nay food except the pollen of the "Shtankadoodle flower", they named it after their beloved captain. Of course, while this was good news and all, it wasn't very filling, and Ensign Ricky had a very low tolerance for it. Ensign Mew-Mew shivered, he hugged himself tighter.

"And remind me again why we aren't in the warm tent with Ensign Lucky?" Ensign Mew-Mew asked shakily.

"I don't know," Answered Ensign Ricky. He still looked a little green form the accident with the "Shtankadoodle flower".

"Oh?! That's it? We're just sitting out here freezing our butts off--for no particular reason?" Ensign Mew-Mew asked angrily.

"Yep."

"WHAT??!" Ensign Mew-Mew roared. He bolted off the log and into the tent. It got into freezing temperatures at night-time, and large nocturnal creatures prowled around the camp-site also. No one knew how dangerous one was, because only Ensign Spot had seen the creature--and he had only seen the shadow. All the other Ensigns followed Ensign Mew-Mews lead, and tucked themselves in in the cots.

Ensign Mew-Mew yawned,"Ricky, do you want to come look for breakfast?"He asked.

"Sure, I'll come, I'll do anything to not eat 'Shtankadoodle flower' pollen for breakfast." Ensign Ricky replied, lowering the energy field that protected the tent from any nocturnal creatures. They steeped out, the early morning ground was still misty, and the landscape reminded Ensign Mew-Mew of southern California. Ensign Ricky jumped over the brambles, into a tree and looked over a massive cliff, the shape of it was probably caused by a crater. Inside was desert, and few blades of grass.

"I advise we turn back, we'll probably find no food here accept maybe a nine-eyed snake," Ensign Mew-Mew said. However, Ensign Ricky's eyes weren't on the massive crater, he was eyeing a beakless, brown bird about the size of a large parrot.

"Should I get him?" Ensign Ricky asked hungrily, not turning to look at Ensign Mew-Mew.

"No. We aren't to interfere with alien species, and these circumstances are NO exception," Ensign Mew-Mew replied. Ensign Ricky hadn't waited for an answer though, and within a second the bird was in his mouth.

"Wow, this bird almost tastes like a new york steak!" Ensign Ricky said, licking at the bird with his sandpaper tongue to remove the feathers. It had surprisingly tough skin. KE-aaEeerr! the bird cried, beckoning thousands of the brown birds to emerge on Ensign Ricky. It looked much like a canopy of brown chasing the two Ensigns.

"RUN!" Ensign Mew-Mew shouted, dashing through the brambles with a mad mob of beakless birds following him and his friend. The Ensigns jumped into the tent, activated the energy feild and gasped. Some of the birds retreated, and some continued to kill themselves on the energy feild. Ensign Ricky sighed a sigh of releif.

"Hmm, this bird appears to have no beak, no tongue, no teeth, and no poison sacks on any part of it's body, the only thing it seems to have that it can eat with, is a small sort of vaccuum-like snout to suck up bugs and centipedes native to this area. It's snout strikes resemblence to that of an ant-eater, accept much smaller. It also seems to have a grate that acts as a strainer in it's throat, to sort all of the bug remains. It appears that this bird would usually throw up the remainders of the bug it doesn't like. These birds aren't harmful," Ensign Spot finaly concluded,"There was nothing to be afraid of. The only thing left to do now is to name this odd species."

"Captain Shtankadoodle, we haven't gotten the weekly call we expected from the Ensigns. They may be in peril,"said Subcommander Ocee, passing him a pad so he could verify it.

"Oh, they're just working Ensigns. That's what I like in an Ensign, strength, quality. Most of the Ensigns to this day are all just slackers, I'll have to congratulate the Ensigns when they come back,"I replied, sitting down in my captain's chair.

"But they may have damaged their communicator, that was type alpha, very sustainable to damage,"Subcommander Ocee seemed to be showing some concern.

"Oh, only wimps would break a communicator, they're all right,"I reassured her.

"That's what you told your captain when you were just a leiutanant on your training ship, the Stranger." Subcommander Ocee responded.

"Oh well, the fact that they all came out with galactic termite wasn't my fault, it was my captain's, he was in charge of that," I said, I really didn't seem to show the least concern.

"You regretted to mention that the disease was nearly fatal, and that you were advising the captain the entire time," Subcommander Ocee said, raising her voice. Normally it wasn't proper for Ocicat's to do that on a starship.

"Still his fault," I, Captain Shtankadoodle whistled,"Hey you, Ensign, bring us somewhere pretty--um...Faithful Five, that's a beautiful place, we'll all have an hour of shore leave!" The Ensign did not hesitate to bring them there.

"Ensigns!" Ensign Lucky croaked. They rushed to her side, Ensign Ricky was fastest.

"You've recovered!" gasped Ensign Ricky.

"No! The Catnip it's gone!" She exclaimed, pointing up to the skylight in the roof. At this time of day you could see the Catnip in orbit.

"They've abandoned us!" Ensign Spot said with a hint of disbelief.

Captains log: We have just returned to Planet "Shtankadoodle" as I like to call it, we are in orbit on the bright side of this planet, since there is only ever three hours of daylight on this planet, The Ensigns will be asleep. It is night-time in the location where they beamed down. (My shore leave with the Ensigns ended up being two hours, but they didn't regret the extra delay)!

Enign Spot paced back and forth around the fire considering how their starship, the Catnip, could have even thought of leaving them abandoned down here like this! He opened his mouth to speak, but then closed it again.

"Spot! Just come back inside before the "Ocee Monster" comes and gets you!" Ensign Mew-Mew called. They had named the odd nocturnal creature the "Ocee Monster" because of their own fear for Subcommander Ocee. Ensign Ricky was laying beside Ensign Lucky, comforting her about how the Catnip had come back. Ensign Lucky smiled, she knew that unless Ensign Spot stopped pacing, the Catnip had not come back. Ensign Mew-Mew stood up.

"Alright!" He declared,"I'm hungry, I'm not very happy, and I'm going after that Ocee Monster! It should feed all of us for at least three days!" He looked around and snatched his light zapper,"Anyone with me?" All the smiles on the Ensigns faces changed to gloom. Ensign Spot looked around one more time. No one raised there paws.
“Okay, then I’m going myself!” He declared, and with that, he was gone.
