Packing Tips

Packing cat in suitcaseLOLcat time:  Well, I guess all of the kitties are now sending in their vacation pics, since Colby had an article written about him yesterday.  This here is Kohlie.  Kohlie decided that she would take it upon herself to teach our pets (humans) and us, kitties, how to properly pack.  This way, we all get the most out of our vacations.

Shtankadoodle:  So, Kohlie, what is the first thing to do when packing?

Kohlie:  It is always good to have a plan.  Making a list is a good start.  This way the pet (human) will make sure that their Kitty-Royalty will have all of their favorite food, toys and catnip.  You wouldn't want to leave behind the catnip.  This is a time for cats to unwind.

S:  I see!  So, do you recommend putting kitties in a regular suitcase?

K:  Absolutely not!  Suitcases are only used as a last resort when the kitty must stowaway.  Royalty should be outfitted with the best in kitty travel options.  A nice, padded carrier with toys, food and water is ideal.  Kitty Royalty must be treated with respect, not jammed in with the pet's jammies.

S:  Okay... So, we do not want to burrow in our pet's suitcase then?

K:  Only as a last resort.  If you are certain that your pet is trying to leave without you, then you may proceed to the suitcase, otherwise  demand first class accommodations.

S:  Then the picture above is meant to be more humorous, to get your attention, rather than practical?

K:  Oh, yes.  Kitties need to be safe, too.

S:  So, after making a list and securing safe passage for your kitty, what should the pet (human) do next?

K:  Next, the pet must pack a separate bag for all of the kitty's needs:  food, water, litter, litterbox, dishes, toys, catnip, pillow, collar with tags, harness with leash, crown, sweater, if you are going somewhere cold....

S:  Sounds like quite a lot of stuff.  I prefer the art of minimalistic packing.  You know, just get in the vehicle and go!

K:  Of course, that is an option for some cats, but some of us purr-fer (prefer) to be pampered.

S:  Yes, of course, but when you are pampered every day, sometimes you just want to "rough it" a bit.

K:  Shtankadoodle, I can not imagine EVER wanting to "rough-it", as you say!!!  I am royalty, and I will be pampered and worshipped!!!  (Kohlie storms out of the Kitty-shack in a huff.)

S: Well, since Kohlie has left this interview.....  Well, I guess that I get to finish it.  Just pack wisely.  Make sure that your needs are met and that you have access to cash in case you forgot something.  It makes the whole experience a lot more fun when you aren't stressed out!  The catnip might be nice, though!
